City Government Commits to Continuing River Normalization

East Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin, said currently, land acquisition and sheet pile construction on the Ciliwung River have not been completed. As a result, low-lying settlements are consistently inundated during rain and flash floods.

"SDA Agency is about to complete the land acquisition in Cawang and Cililitan this year," he said, Monday (12/8).

He added that the next land acquisition targets are Bidara Cina, Kampung Melayu and Kebon Manggis.

According to him, currently the progress of land acquisition in Cawang and Cililitan is in the filing process.

Head of Cililitan Urban Village, Sukarya said there are approximately 25 plots of land in neighborhood units (RW) 06 and 16 that will be acquired this year. The East Jakarta National Land Agency (BPN) is currently reviewing the documents to determine whether the land is disputed.

"If the land is under dispute, it will be consigned to the East Jakarta District Court so that the land acquisition process can continue for the normalization of the Ciliwung River," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Cawang Urban Village, Gia Junian Putranto stated land in RW 03 is still undergoing the filing process at the Jakarta Water Resources Agency. There are 37 plots to be acquired in the RW.

"RW 03 is focused on this year. Then RW 05 and 08 to be processed next," he stated.
